(POS19) Speech-language Pathologists’ Role in Making Accessibility and Accommodations Decisions for K-12 Students with Disabilities

This poster presents results from a survey of school-based speech-language pathologists’ experience with classroom and assessment accommodations for K-12 students with disabilities. In addition, we provide recommendations on strategies to support SLPs to participate more confidently as members of individualized education program teams when making decisions about accommodations.

Learning Outcomes:

You will be able to:

Describe the factors that can influence SLPs' role to make accessibility and accommodations decisions for students with disabilities, including English learners with disabilities;
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify ways SLPs participate in IEP team collaboration in the classroom and assessment decision-making process for students, including English learners with disabilities.
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify the kinds of professional development SLPs may need about accommodations.
