(POS37) Workload Management in Schools: Making Better Eligibility Decisions

SLPs in school-based settings are faced with daunting caseloads, creating enormous amounts of meetings and paperwork. This can be managed only through assisting the evaluation team in making high quality eligibility and dismissal decisions based on the child having a disability that has a negative educational impact.

Discuss limitations of standardized assessments alone to determine eligibility.
Explain how to triangulate data to ensure that a child meets eligibility criteria as a child with a disability under IDEA.
