Dr. DiMuzio was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he continues to live with his wife. After completing his BA at Johns Hopkins University, he received his MD from the University of Pennsylvania. He then trained at Thomas Jefferson University in general surgery, followed by a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. He then returned to Jefferson where he serves as the William M. Measey Professor of Surgery, Director of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and Co-Director of the Jefferson Vascular Center. He recently earned an MBA from Univeristy of Nebraska Lincoln.
His specific clinical interests include carotid disease and thoracic outlet syndrome. He one of the first to introduce the total percutaneous treatment of aortic disease as well as TCAR to the Philadelphia region. His clinical expertise has earned him the title of Distinguished Fellow of the Society of Vascular Surgery and perennial naming as one of the regions “Top Doctors.”
Dr. DiMuzio has an extensive research background including stem cell tissue engineering, specifically involving the development of a small-diameter vascular graft. He has received funding from the NIH, AHA, ADA, and AVA. He is currently focused on clinical trials that involve carotid artery imaging and prevention of vascular wound infection.
He serves on the Editorial Board of the JVS as an Assistant Editor for Social Media and Press Releases. In this role, he founded the JVS Online Journal Club to educate our vascular trainees in the explication of the vascular literature.
