Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Surgical Director Structural Heart Program
UPMC Pinnacle
I am a graduate (1994) of Aga Khan University, Faculty of Health Sciences in Karachi, Pakistan. My training took me through Univ. of Connecticut for General Surgery as well as Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and Penn State Health in Pennsylvania for Cardiac Surgery. I then had the priviledge of spending a year and a half at the Cleveland Clinic for advanced fellowship in heart failure and valvular heart disease. I have strived to develop a busy valve practice in Central Pennsylvania where I have formed friendships and partnerships to advance the treatment of valvular heart disease via minimally invasive surgical and structural heart avenues. For the last ten years I am also part of a team which spends a significant amount of time in humanitarian work in Rabwah (Chenab Nagar) Pakistan providing cardiac surgical support at the Tahir Heart Instituite (THI) on charitable basis.
