Washington University School of Medicine
I am a Research Fellow in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in the lab of Dr. Ralph J. Damiano, a General Surgery Resident, and a current student in WashU's Masters of Population Health Sciences program. I look forward to a career in academic cardiac surgery, and am very excited to be presenting at the STS conference this year. With the mentorship of Dr. Damiano, I am currently utilizing a large animal model that I designed in order to investigate the pathophysiology and electrophysiology of atrial fibrillation that develops in the setting of mitral regurgitation. Simultaneously, I am investigating racial disparities in access to, utilization of, and outcomes after cardiac surgical care. Specifically, I am interested in identifying opportunities for intervention to reduce these disparities, particularly in access to surgical care.
