This educational pre-meeting will focus on career development as well as cutting edge translational research that are commensurate with a career in academic surgical oncology. The session will consist of presentations by surgical oncologists who have successfully navigated the path to become independently funded researchers and younger faculty who have successfully launched their research careers with K-level funding. Discussion will feature various models to become a funded researcher ranging from individual (R-type) and collaborative/team science (U-type) research grants at various career stages. The session will also highlight novel translational oncology platforms appropriate to surgical oncology investigators. Panel Q&A will follow each session. Open to all researchers.
