Professor of Radiology and Surgery
Medical College of Wisconsin
William Rilling, MD, FSIR is currently Professor of Radiology and Surgery in the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs for the Department of Radiology. He served as section chief for 13 years and also as Chief of Staff of Froedtert Hospital. He has played an integral role in building an interventional oncology practice, and MCW was among the first in the country to offer liver directed therapies such as Y90 radioembolization and drug eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE). Because new therapies require research, my research interests are focused on image guided therapy for cancer in the liver, lung, kidney, and musculoskeletal system. I have served as the local PI for multiple multicenter national and international trials investigating the integration of systemic and liver directed therapy for both primary and metastatic liver cancer, including the DEBIRI, SIRFLOX and EPOCH as the national PI of other medical device trials. I am currently the immediate past president of the Society of Interventional Oncology and have served on the SIO executive committee for 5 years.
