Dr. Leah Hendrick is a fourth year general surgery resident at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. The focus of her basic science research has been to examine epigenomic alterations in HPV-associated malignancies and to identify potential epigenetic drivers of neoplastic progression while working under the mentorship of Dr. David Shibata. Additionally, she has focused her clinical investigation on the relationship between visceral obesity and clinical outcomes in oncologic surgery. She looks forward to pursuing a fellowship in surgical oncology followed by academic work with her time split between basic science research and clinical practice.
