Adrienne (Bruce) Shannon, MD is a surgical resident (PGY-6) in the Department of Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her interests include surgical oncology, cancer immunotherapy, and surgical education. She received her BA from Vanderbilt University in Molecular and Cell Biology with a minor in Chemistry and Child Development in 2012 and her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2016 as a AAMC Medical Education Research Scholar. She works under the mentorship of Dr. Giorgos Karakousis and Dr. John Miura of the Division of Surgical Oncology to investigate clinical topics related to melanoma, gastrointestinal cancers, sarcoma, and Merkel cell carcinoma. She is presently applying to Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship and hopes ot someday have an academic practice with a focus on soft tissue and skin malignancies.
