Sean Judge is a chief resident in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis. He completed a two-year post-doctoral research fellowship in the Laboratory of Cancer Immunology under the mentorship of William Murphy, PhD and Robert Canter, MD. His research investigates mechanisms of NK and T cell dysfunction and immunoregulation in viral and tumor models, with a particular focus on the changes in immune cell phenotype and function that occur during highly activating conditions, and how these changes can be modified for a therapeutic, anti-tumor benefit. His clinical research investigates the role for hepatic arterial infusion in primary and metastatic cancers of the liver, and novel, liver-directed immunotherapies.
Sean completed his MS in molecular biology at the University of San Francisco before obtaining his medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. Following completion of general surgery training, he will be pursuing fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His career goal is an academic career in Surgical Oncology and HPB Surgery with a research focus on immunotherapy for malignant liver tumors.
