Dr. Harper is a general surgery resident at the University of Kentucky (UK). She was born and raised in Southern California and obtained a bachelor’s in Molecular Biology and a master’s in Biology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) before obtaining her M.D. from the University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine. Her interest in oncology began at UCSD and refined to a focus on gastrointestinal cancers while in the lab of Dr. Andrew Lowy. She is currently a T32 Fellow under the mentorship of Dr. Joseph Kim, as well as a Clinical and Translational Science Ph.D. candidate. Her research interests include utilizing precision medicine to identify and develop efficacious therapies, categorizing population genomic fingerprints, elucidating immuno-oncology molecular mechanisms, understanding and reducing disparities in vulnerable populations for gastrointestinal cancers. She plans to pursue a fellowship in surgical oncology with a focus on hepatopancreatobiliary diseases.
