General Surgery Resident
Brigham and Women's Hospital
Boston, Massachusetts, United States
My name is Mehida Rojas-Alexandre, I came to Brigham Surgery from Yale School of Medicine. As a Brigham general surgery resident, I have the benefit of 2 protected research years to focus on academic discoveries without the demands of clinical schedule. My project is a tri-institutional project with PIs at Brigham and Women’s and Massachusetts General Hospitals and Boston University that focuses on an implantable polymer film eluting the chemotherapy drug paclitaxel (“Pax film”) locally to overcome the limited utility of traditional chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Upon completion of residency, I plan to pursue a surgical oncology fellowship with the goal of becoming an academic surgical oncologist. My long-term goal is to be a principal investigator of a laboratory focusing on basic and translational oncologic research, in addition to my clinical work.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
