Dr. Ong was born in Southern California. She attended Yale University for her undergraduate studies, majoring in Biology. She then attended Duke University for medical school, during which time she was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute research fellowship. She continued her surgery training in the Duke General Surgery Residency program. She is now pursuing her fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Chicago where she is focusing on gastrointestinal malignancies, with an interest in hepatobiliary and oligometastatic disease.
