Dr. Alissa Greenbaum is an Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center. She completed her medical school training at Oregon Health and Science University and general surgery residency at the University of New Mexico. She completed her Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. During her second year of fellowship, she completed a Masters Certificate in Clinical and Translational Science through Rutgers University. Dr. Greenbaum currently serves as Associate Program Director for the general surgery residency at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, focusing on resident wellness and surgical ergonomics initiatives. Her research focuses on Native American health, cancer screening and intercultural approaches to healthcare, as well as large database research examining surgical outcomes in patients with gastrointestinal and peritoneal malignancies. She is the Program Director of the UNM Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Program, the only cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy program in the state. She is proud to serve the diverse patient population of New Mexico and surrounding areas of east Texas and western Arizona.
