Dr. Raoof is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at City of Hope Cancer Center. He obtained his medical degree from Aga Khan University and completed general surgery residenty at Yale University and University of Arizona. Dr. Raoof also completed a research fellowship in DNA repair and nanotherapeutics at MD Anderson Cancer Center as well as a Complex surgical oncology fellowship at City of Hope Cancer Center. In the clinic, Dr. Raoof provides surgical expertise for patients with hepatobiliary and peritoneal surface malignancies. In the laboratory, Dr. Raoof is working on novel methods to target DNA damage avoidance and repair mechanisms in gastrointestinal cancers with the ultimate goal of developing novel therapeutics. He is the author of dozens of peer-reviewed papers that have been published in leading scientific journals, including Nature, Journal of National Cancer Institute and Biomaterials. Dr. Raoof is the recipient of several honors and awards, most notably, the American College of Surgeons Faculty Research Fellowship, PanCAN Career Development Award, and NCCN Young Investigator Award.
