M. Haroon A. Choudry MD, FACS. Associate professor of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Choudry received his general surgery training at Penn State University Medical Center and subsequently completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His clinical practice primarily involves complex gastrointestinal surgical oncology with a special focus on the surgical management of patients with peritoneal metastases. He was instrumental in the development and expansion of the institutional prospective clinical database for patients with peritoneal metastases undergoing surgical resection and leads clinical research projects related to this research database. In addition to clinical research, he runs a basic science/translational research laboratory that focuses on identifying novel therapeutic strategies for mucinous colorectal and appendix cancers that have metastasized to the peritoneal cavity. He is also actively involved in the clinical education of surgical oncology fellows, surgical residents, and medical students, and also supervises a postdoctoral research instructor and visiting research fellow in his laboratory.
