Sugical Oncologist
Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale Tumori, Milan, Italy
Milano, Lombardia, Italy
I am a surgical oncologist fully dedicated to the cure of patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) and gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale Tumori (INT), Milan, Italy, with both open and minimally invasive surgery. I grew under the mentorship of Dr. Alessandro Gronchi, who trained me as a surgeon and as a clinical researcher. In 2019 I completed a 2-year Surgical Oncology clinical fellowship at University of Toronto (ON, Canada). During the fellowship I became part of an outstanding research network that has been exploited in multicentric studies on extremity and retroperitoneal STS. I have an active role in the Transatlantic Australasian Retroperitoneal Sarcoma Working Group (TARPSWG) since its inception in 2013. Since 2020 I am the coordinator of the TARPSWG Education Committee (https://tarpswg.org/tarpwg-governance/). Within this Committee we developed an Educational Webinar series (tarpswg.org/webinars) that is bringing together sarcoma experts from Europe and North-America and is having a global participation from the five continents. My primary research interest is about prognostic models for extremity and retroperitoneal STS patients. With this regard, in 2015 I lead the development of a free-App for smartphones and tablets (‘Sarculator’) which allow the digital computation of STS patient prognosis. The app reached 1k+ downloads worldwide and represent a unique instrument to inform sarcoma clinicians and patients in the daily clinical practice.
I do not have any relevant financial / non-financial relationships with any proprietary interests.
