Patricio M. Polanco, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW). Dr. Polanco is a board-certified surgeon by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology. Dr. Polanco joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2014. His expertise includes pancreas cancer, liver cancer and gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Polanco has advanced training in minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery. Dr. Polanco is the Director of the Robotic Surgery Training Program and leads the Peritoneal Surface Malignancies and HIPEC Program at UTSW. Dr. Polanco is an active member of multiple academic and surgical societies and has served in several leadership positions at expert panels at the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA), Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), American College of Surgeons Commision on Cancer (ACS-CoC), National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), among others. His scholarly activity includes clinical and outcomes research that has been presented at national and interantional academic meetings and published in numerous scientific journals.
