Dr. Beasley is an assistant professor of surgery in the division of Surgical Oncology at Duke University. She obtained her MD and Masters of Health Science in clinical research from Duke University School of Medicine. During general surgical residency at Duke University, she was awarded a traineeship under a long-standing Surgical Oncology T32 grant and played a significant role in the preclinical development, trial design, trial accrual, and analysis for multiple Phase I and II clinical trials developing novel therapeutics in melanoma. She recently completed (July 2017) a fellowship in complex surgical oncology at the Ohio State University. Concurrent with clinical training, she first authored over 40 publications mostly centered on the treatment of in-transit melanoma using novel drugs, and has presented clinical trial results at numerous national meetings. During her first 4 years as faculty member, Dr. Beasley has run multiple therapeutic clinical trials in melanoma and has continued her translational research in melanoma. She has received numerous internal and external funding. Now as an associate professor, she continues in her role as principal investigator of several therapeutic clinical trials in melanoma along with preclinical projects. Her main clinical and research interests include immunologic aspects of melanoma including oncolytic viral therapy.
