Joya Chandra, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with a primary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics Research and a joint appointment in the Department of Epigenetics and Molecular Carcinogenesis. Translational research in her lab is directed towards leukemia and brain tumor therapeutics with an emphasis on cell signaling, oxidative stress, epigenetics and cell death. Dr. Chandra also carries out clinical research related to diet and nutrition for pediatric cancer patients and survivors and serves as the co-director for the Center for Energy Balance in Cancer Prevention and Survivorship at MD Anderson. An active mentor to trainees of all levels, she is co-director of the TL1 training component of a Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences grant from NIH.
