Ekokobe Fonkem, DO is the System Chief of Neuro-Oncology at Baylor Scott and White Health System in Texas and Professor of Medicine and Neurosurgery at Texas A& M University Health Science Center. He also founded Healing Beyond the Horizon, an organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of Africans by providing healthcare, educational and business opportunities. In the last 10 years, Healing Beyond the Horizon has provided medical care to over 10 thousand Cameroonians while also providing clean water to some villages in Lebialem Division. This organization has also raised $500,000 dollars during this period.
Furthermore, Dr Fonkem has received many awards including the $1.5 million dollars donation from the Arizona Diamond backs last year, the Annual Caris Award for being a leader in precision genomic medicine and the University of Wisconsin Distinguish Alumni Award.
Dr Fonkem research interests are in brain tumor biomarkers, new therapeutic targets for gliomas, quality of life issues in brain tumor patients and global neuro-oncology. His result work has generated 3 patents and resulted in over 125 manuscripts, abstracts published in peer review journals and multiple book chapters. He has served as mentor to many practicing doctors across the globe, residents and fellows, medical students, graduate students and undergraduates.
