Donna M. Kimbark, Ph.D. currently serves as a Health Science Program Manager at the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command.
Dr. Kimbark received her Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology and Cancer Therapeutics (1996) from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Following postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, Dr. Kimbark worked in the biotechnology sector where she was promoted from Field Scientist to Account Manager then to Program Manager. She joined the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) in 2002 as Science Officer for the Breast Cancer Research Program.
During her time as a Science Officer, Dr. Kimbark also served on the Institution Based Research Program group and as Chair of the Consumer Working Group, where she facilitated the role of patients in the peer review process. While working in grants management, she expanded her knowledge in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Drexel University online school and received a certificate. In 2008, Dr. Kimbark was promoted to Health Science Program Manager for the Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program. As Program Manager, Dr. Kimbark facilitates deliberations with subject matter experts in scientific discussions, presents webinars for outreach, and manages a team of civilian and contractor members. In addition to her program management duties, Dr. Kimbark leads the Research Security Team at the CDMRP to ensure the protection of the intellectual property of the United States from foreign interference and influence.
Her awards include the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service and the Civilian Service Achievement Award. Dr. Kimbark has received the Innovation Award from the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs for her work on webinars and outreach.
