My name is Foteini Tsiami and I am in the second year of my doctoral studies in Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research in the University of Tuebingen. I hold a Bachelor Degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, acquired by the University of Crete in Greece. Early in my academic career, I developed a great interest in the field of Neurosciences and therefore, I proceeded with my master studies in the University of Tuebingen in Germany, where I attened a 2-year master program specialized in Cellular and Molecular Neurosciences. My doctoral studies are under the supervision of Dr. rer. nat. Daniel Merk and Prof. Dr. Ghazaleh Tabatabai in the Department of Neurology & Interdisciplinary Neuro-Oncology. I am currently investigating brain tumors in pre-clinical models with a focus on pediatric brain tumors such as medulloblastoma. My research goal is to unravel genetic vulnerabilities in these tumor entities using state-of-the-art experimental techniques that will contribute to developing novel therapeutic approaches for patients.
