Zahra Riahi Samani is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Radiology at the University of
Pennsylvania since 2018. She received her Ph.D. and MSc in Computer Engineering from Shahid Beheshti
University (National University of Iran), Tehran, Iran, in 2011 and 2017 respectively; and her B.Sc. in
Software Engineering from Sharif University of technology in 2008. She was a visiting scholar at Drexel
University prior to joining University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on developing advanced
machine (and deep) learning and computer vision techniques and utilizing them in multidisciplinary
applications including medical imaging and social media analysis. Specifically, she has experience in
brain tumors, brain connectivity analysis, diffusion imaging quality control, assessment of breast cancer
tumors, social image analysis, and studies on personality and activities on social media. In DiCIPHR, she
is developing various image processing and machine learning techniques for analyzing brain connectivity
and diffusion models and its application to brain tumors, brain injury, and autism.
