My name is Georgios Alkis Zisiadis and I am a PhD candidate in Karolinska Institutet, in Stockholm, Sweden. I was born and raised in Thessaloniki, Greece, where I finished my bacheror studies in Biology with a specialization in Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology. For my bacherlo's thesis, I worked on sequencing and analyzing the mitochondrial genome of a fruit fly of the species Bactrocera invadens, a major pest for Sub-Saharan Africa. After my military duty in the Greek Army was concluded, I moved to Sweden to continue my studies, where I completed my Master's degree in Biomedicine, working in 2 labs as part of my degree, exploring the implications of miR-150 in Multiple sclerosis and understanding the mechansism and time course of NgR1 downregulation. After that, I was employed as a research assistant working on understanding how circadian rhythm affects the metabolism of pharmacological agents. Since 2020, I have been conducting my PhD research on preventing and\or reversing the ablation of neurogenesis as a result of the late effects that occur after radiation therapy in children. I am expected to defense my thesis and receive my degree in 2024.
