Michael Sun is a pharmacist and a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in Pathology at Duke University. His doctoral training is supervised by Dr. Yiping He, and his research seeks to repurpose commercially available drugs against glioblastoma cell stemness properties. He is broadly interested in identifying molecular pathways critical for the maintenance of stemness in multiple types of brain tumors, and also investigating the pathological relationship between common genetic mutations and malignant features of glioblastoma. His research is supported by the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, the Department of Pathology at Duke, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), and the Duke Cancer Institute.
Michael holds a BS of Pharmacy from the National Taiwan University’s School of Medicine, where his undergraduate research and academic performance have been recognized with several awards, including the Research Creativity Awards and the Presidential Awards. He received his clinical training as an intern pharmacist at the National Taiwan University Hospital, where he was the recipient of the Internship Awards for Excellence.
