Yoshihiro Muragaki MD. (Ph.D)2
Professor of Faculty of Advanced Techno-Surgery (FATS) and Department of Neurosurgery, Vice-President of Institute of Advanced Biomedical Engineering and Science, Director of Medical AI Center, Tokyo Women's Medical University (TWMU).
Dr. Muragaki joined the Department of Neurosurgery at Tokyo Women's Medical University in 1986 after he graduated from Kobe University. After he became a board neurosurgeon, he went on to study for basic research at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania between 1992 and -95. He is actively working as a staff of the Neurosurgical Department of TWMU, and then he has held concurrent posts as Professor at FATS of TWMU since 2011. He has been working for Center for Advanced Medical Engineering Research and Development (CAMED), Kobe University since September 2022.
Dr. Muragaki has developed many medical devices including a smart operating theatre (SCOT), cutting-edge navigation, photodynamic therapy, and so on. He also conducts many clinical trials for malignant brain tumors and his team has the highest volume of patients with a brain tumor.
He received several prizes following Industry-Academia-Government, Minister of State for Science and Technology Prize (2010), Japan Open Innovation Prize (2019).
