I am a research associate in the laboratory of Dr. Aaron J Johnson at Mayo Clinic. I study immunosuppression during brain cancer progressionb and following other neurological injuries. Immunosuppression in cancer is a huge problem. Immunotherapies can only work if there is a functional immune system. Brain cancer suppresses the immune system. I study how brain suppresses the immune system in GBM. Understanding how the immunosuppression in GBM occurs is the first step in reversing it. Reversing immunosuppression in GBM will enhance the efficacy of immunotherapies for patients.
