My name is Greg Takacs and I am currently a Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. student in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Florida. I am pursuing two concentrations (1) Cancer Biology (2) Clinical and Translational Research under the guidance of mentor, Jeffrey K. Harrison, PhD. I have had long-standing interests in the biomedical sciences and developed the passion to study cancer biology throughout my educational training. My current role in the Harrison Lab is directed towards elucidating the role of the tumor microenvironment in the progression of human malignant gliomas. I am specifically interested in understanding the functions of chemokine systems that influence immune-suppressive myeloid cell populations, with the intention of identifying novel pharmacological targets.
