I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Neurological Surgery Department, Feinberg School of Medicine, and the member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, Northwestern University. The research in my laboratory is focusing on revealing the nature of myeloid cells (e.g., macrophages, microglia, and myeloid-derived suppressor cells), and characterizing the mechanisms that underlie heterotypic interactions across diverse cell types (e.g., myeloid cell, cancer cell, cancer stem cell, lymphocyte, and endothelial cell) in primary and metastatic brain cancers. I have received numerous highly competitive awards supporting my ongoing research, which include the NIH K99/R00 Path to Independence Award (2020-2023), NIH/NINDS R01 (2022-2027), the DoD Career Development Award-Scholar Option (2021-2025), the Cancer Research Foundation Young Investigator Award (2021-2023), the Lynn Sage Scholar Award (2021-2023), and Institutional Research Grant from the American Cancer Society (2022-2023). My mission is to identify novel therapeutic strategies that will improve the outcome of primary and metastatic brain cancers in meaningful ways.
