Artak Tovmasyan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Translational Neuroscience at Barrow Neurological Institute. He directs the Pharmacokinetics Laboratory at the Ivy Brain Tumor Center. Dr. Tovmasyan earned his PhD degree from the School of Pharmacy at Yerevan State Medical University, where he also completed a residency in drug development. He obtained a postdoctoral training in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Duke University Medical Center.
Dr. Tovmasyan’s research work involves evaluating drugs and candidate molecules for their brain penetration to further their application in brain tumor clinical trials. The results obtained in the state-of-the-art CAP/CLIA-certified laboratory enable physicians to implement the most efficient treatment regimens in brain tumor patients. Dr. Tovmasyan’s research interests also include design and development of brain-targeting agents, particularly novel radio-modulators for brain tumor therapy.
Dr. Tovmasyan has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles and delivered over 100 presentations in national and international meetings. He is also an author of several patents and invention disclosures.
