Dr. Sahebjam is a medical oncologist and neuro-oncologist, interested in developing new treatment strategies for cancer patients—specifically for those with primary and metastatic central nervous system tumors.
Dr. Sahebjam received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Iran University of Medical Sciences prior to moving to Canada and joining John Mort’s lab at McGill University as a postdoctoral research fellow. She subsequently completed an internal medicine residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts, followed by an internal medicine fellowship at the University of Ottawa in Canada. She then completed a medical oncology residency at McGill University, followed by drug development and neuro-oncology fellowships at the University of Toronto’s Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Canada.
She subsequently joined the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute as a clinician investigator and director of clinical trials in neuro-oncology. She also served as the director of the clinical research unit and leader of the Moffitt Phase I Program prior to joining the NCI Center for Cancer Research’s Neuro-Oncology Branch (NOB). Over the course of her career, she has also been a principal investigator and co-investigator on a broad range of early phase therapeutic trials.
Dr. Sahebjam is the recipient of prestigious national and international awards, such as the NCI’s Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award; the American Society of Clinical Oncology/Conquer Cancer Foundation Career Development Award; and the Canadian Institute of Health Research/Canadian Association of Medical Oncologists Fellowship Award.
Dr. Sahebjam also holds the following boards: medical oncology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, medical oncology from the American Board of Internal Medicine, internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine, and internal medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
