Dr. Elena Pentsova is an Associate Attending member of the Department of Neurology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), and Associate Professor of Neurology at the Weil Cornell School of Medicine. Dr. Pentsova is a Director of Neuro-Oncology fellowship program at MSK Dr. Pentsova is double board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as in Neuro-oncology by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
Her major research interest is enhancing early diagnosis of leptomeningeal metastases (LM) from solid cancers based on the next generation sequencing analysis of cerebrospinal fluid and/or blood. Her goal is to develop a robust CSF biomarker program for patients with CNS cancers and implement it in clinical practice. Dr. Pentsova’s research on CSF “liquid biopsies” has received awards from both the Brain Tumor Center, the Neuro-Oncology Research Translation in Humans (NORTH) from MSKCC, as well as an MSK Society Grant and the American Brain Tumor Association. She has published on various topics in Journal of Clinical Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research.
