Vikas Daggubati is an MD/PhD student in the Biomedical Sciences program at UCSF. As a graduate student in the Raleigh lab, he is studying Hedgehog signaling and ciliary biology. He has shown that resistance to CDK6 inhibition can develop through repression of ribosomal genes, thereby generating ER stress and activating the unfolded protein response to upregulate sterol lipids that sustain oncogenic Hedgehog signaling. Vikas is currently performing ciliary proteomic experiments to answer fundamental questions regarding ciliary trafficking of key Hedgehog proteins. When he’s not in lab, Vikas enjoys anything involving the outdoors.
