Dr. Kubelt works as a senior resident (6th year of education) in the department of neurosurgery at the UKSH Campus Kiel. Besides her clinical work in the OR, consultation hours, emergency ambulance, and intense care, she scientifically focuses on the field of neuro-oncology, especially high-grade gliomas. As part of the research group of Prof. Held-Feindt (head of the laboratory, department of neurosurgery, UKSH Campus Kiel), she investigates processes involved in tumor progression. In the framework of a medical rotation position in the Research Training Group RTG 2154 “Materials for Brain” she established rodent models to test novel therapeutic approaches developed by this interdisciplinary research group. As part of the cooperation project “IntraEpiGliom- Rapid sequencing-based diagnosis of brain tumors”, she focusses on the improvement of diagnostic tools of brain tumors using Nanopore sequencing. There, she was critically involved in the establishment of perioperative processes to ensure sample processing and its optimization and validation.
