Farshad Nassiri received his BSc and MD from the University of Toronto, where he was the recipient of the Golden Stethoscope Award. Following medical school, Farshad entered neurosurgical residency at the University of Toronto in 2014. He is now completing his PhD at the University of Toronto in brain tumor biology while completing his residency. He is the recipient of the prestigious Vanier Scholarship of Canada and his research interests include identifying biomarkers of aggressiveness in brain tumors and developing clinicomolecular models that accurately predict disease phenotype. His work has been funded by the Brain Tumor Charity UK, AANS/CNS Section on Tumors, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and he has received a number of awards for his research including: the SNO Adult Basic Research Award, Canadian Neuro-Oncology Young Investigator Award, and the KG McKenzie Memorial Prize for Basic Research. Farshad also serves as the inaugural Communicating Editor for Neuro-Oncology Advances.
