Andrew Brenner MD, PhD, is the Kolitz/Zachry Endowed Chair Neuro-Oncology Research and Co-Leader of Experimental and Developmnetal Therapeutics Program at Mays Cancer Center (an NCI designated Cancer Center) and physician partner with Texas Oncology. He has worked in experimental therapeutics with a focus on treatment of neuro-oncological disease for 12 years. He is both a basic scientist with training in tumor biology as well as a clinical scientist with experience in early therapeutic development. He has led not only the preclinical evaluation, but the entire IND enabling process including authoring toxicology studies, collaborating with CROs in CMC evaluation, as well as authoring the clinical documents. His experimental therapeutics work also extends to collaborations with a number of laboratories, he has led mutli-institutional clinical trials, and is the Study Chair of two cooperative group studies soon to open (S1906 and S2007). As coleader of Mays Cancer Centers Experimental and Developmental Therapeutics Program, Dr. Brenner provides experitse and guidance in translational work within the center. He has mentored a number of trainees at all levels through the various graduate programs at UTHSCSA including undergraduate trainees with the San Antonio Life Science Institute (SALSI), students pursuing a masters of science in clinical investigation, doctoral students in the MD, PHD program, post-graduate medical fellows, and junior faculty.
