Hamed Akbari, MD, PhD is a senior research scientist at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his PhD in AI in robotic surgery with focus on artificial neural networks from the Tokyo Institute of Technology after obtaining his MD from the medical school at the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Over the past several years, his research efforts have focused on medical artificial intelligence, medical image processing, personalized/precision medicine, and technologies for minimally invasive procedures.
