I am Jorge Ibanez Vega, I have a PhD in Biological sciences focused in Cell and Molecular Biology, and I am currently working as a scientist at the Dr. Krenciute’s lab, in St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
At the Dr. Krenciute's lab, I am focused on developing an effective Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T cell therapy for Diffuse intrinsic pontine gliomas (DIPGs), which is a highly aggressive pediatric brain malignancy with no cure or treatment available. For that, our aim is to characterize and unveil the molecular mechanisms that DIPGs use to evade the anti-tumor activity of CAR T cells, and exploit those mechanisms to improve CAR T cell efficacy against DIPGs. For that, I am using my previous experience in microscopy and neuroinflammation, obtained during my PhD training in Chile.
