Kendra A. Adegbesan, B.S., is a current Postbaccalaureate Cancer Research Trainee Awardee working under neuro-oncologists Drs. Terri Armstrong and Mark Gilbert within the Neuro-Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. She hopes to enrich her communities through cognitive research, medical care, and the power of medical storytelling. She is currently applying to M.D. PhD. programs with an interests within neurology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry. She hopes to use this training to explore optogenetic, neurogenetic, and electrophysiological methods to observe cognitive behavior as a consequence of neuronal activity. Kendra aspires to create a toolbox of biomedical techniques to better understand the cognitive shifts that occur in neurological and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson’s and primary brain tumors.
