Jonathan Knisely, MD, FASTRO is a radiation oncologist with an exclusively CNS-directed practice at Weill Cornell School of Medicine's Meyer Cancer Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hosptal. He dual majored in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry and East Asian Language & Literature (Chinese) at Yale, and attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. Thereafter, he completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Michael Reese Hospital & Medical Center and a residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Toronto. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Radiation Oncology, and also has been certified by the Royal College of Physicans of Canada in Radiation Oncology.
Prior to being recruited to Cornell, Jonathan Knisely worked at the Yale University School of Medicine and Northwell Health and led both institutions' CNS radiation and radiosurgery programs. He has led and participated in institutional and RTOG CNS clinical trials, and introduced to radiation oncology the first automated algorithm for rigid registration of CT and MRI data sets to facilitate MRI-based focal irradiation (and re-irradiation) of brain pathology. He is finishing a 2 year term as the CNS program committee chairman for ASTRO's annual scientific meeting and is a past chairman of the Leksell Gamma Knife Society. His clinical practice is limited to CNS pathologies where a role for radiation in management exists
