Dr. Payal Watchmaker is a Specialist in Department of Neurological Surgery at University of California, San Francisco. She received her doctorate in Immunology from University of Pittsburgh, where she studied the influence of CD8+ T cell subsets on dendritic cell maturation and activation in the laboratory of Dr. Pawel Kalinski. She was Post-Doctoral Fellow in Eugene Butcher's laboratory at Stanford University and worked on defining the dendritic cell subsets in human intestinal tissue. As a specialist in the laboratory of Hideho Okada at UCSF, she is developing and assessing the efficacy of novel CAR circuits that require multiple input signals for induction of killing function and thereby enhance the specificity and safety of CAR- based therapeutics for adult and pediatric gliomas.
