Description

The Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Neuro-Oncology Fellow and Early Clinician/Investigator Career Retreat which will take place Thursday, November 17, 2022, during the SNO Education Day in Tampa, Florida. This course includes a comprehensive exploration of issues of importance to early career neuro-oncologists in the clinic and in the laboratory.

This annual career retreat is part of SNO’s commitment to the future of neuro-oncology and the specialists who will create it. This program was designed with both clinical and laboratory professionals in mind; we encourage fellows and early career faculty from any related neuro-oncology specialty to participate.

Fellowship Directors, Division Chiefs, and leaders in neuro-oncology: please encourage your fellows and early career faculty to register. The Retreat offers an opportunity to:
  • Optimize a job search following fellowship and post-doctoral training
  • Explore different work settings (academics, industry, government)
  • Learn about attending life – do’s and don’ts – for neuro-oncology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, neurosurgery, and laboratory investigation
  • Attend discussions about financial aspects of neuro-oncology practice
  • Network with peers and senior neuro-oncologists
Past participants strongly agree this course is of high value and would recommend it to a  colleague. Past comments include:

“I loved that we heard from people in academics, industry, FDA and NIH!”

“Appreciated hearing different perspectives on solo/small vs large practices.”

Program
The full day includes both lectures and small group discussions with participants making contacts with colleagues and faculty. The program is divided into three sessions:

·       Job Search and Preference
·       Attending Life
·       Beyond the Hospital Walls
