Description
The National Cancer Institute defines a person as a survivor from the time of cancer diagnosis, throughout the remainder of his or her life. The CNS Cancer Survivorship Education Day explores the challenges of survivorship from scientific and psychosocial perspectives. Attendees will learn about emerging neuroscientific models for cognitive, neurological and psychological consequences of cancer and cancer therapy; modifiable risk factors for therapeutic toxicity; pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions to enhance quality of life; and socioeconomic features that impact survivorship. The target audience is clinicians who seek to improve patient care, as well as scientists who wish to address these challenges in the laboratory to make a translational impact. Clinical and laboratory trainees are highly encouraged to attend to gain perspectives that they may not typically encounter in their training. The speakers are leaders in the field and all attendees will come away with an understanding of the state of the art of survivorship in neuro-oncology.
