Beginning in 2023, all NIH grant applications or renewals that generate scientific data must now include a detailed plan for how the data will be managed and shared. In FY 2021, the University of Arizona received over $166 million in NIH grants. This presentation will describe how information professionals at the University of Arizona Libraries collaborated with a diverse group of campus stakeholders to develop and implement a robust communication plan regarding the DMSP requirements, and the guidance we developed for the different aspects of the DMSP. Details about strategies used to anticipate the need for data management services specific to this policy, and lessons learned along the way will also be provided. Attendees will benefit by learning about the NIH DMSP requirements that will go into effect in 2023, be provided with ideas for rolling out implementation strategies of their own, and given insight into researcher’s perspectives and opinions about the new NIH DMSP requirements.
Learning Objectives:
Define the core elements of the 2023 NIH DMSP requirements
Strategize an approach to offering services and resources that could help their own clients meet the 2023 NIH DMSP requirements
Understand researcher’s perspectives and opinions with regards the NIH DMSP 2023 requirements.
