Jay Bhatt is responsible for building library collections in biomedical engineering and engineering subject areas, and for teaching information and research skills to faculty, researchers, and students. He provides individual and small group consultations, research support to faculty and students, and conducts instructional sessions for different classes as requested by faculty members. He is passionate about participating in conversations and raising awareness about Academic and Research Integrity, Open Access, Open Data, and Open Educational Resources in Engineering, in faculty and students.
Jay is an active member of several Special Library Association Communities including Asian Chapter Community, Engineering Community, Philadelphia Chapter Community, and Science and Technology Community. He is also actively involved with the Engineering Libraries Division of the American Society for Engineering Education. He has published and presented papers extensively in the area of information literacy for engineering students.
Jay has received several awards, including the Engineering Librarian of the Year Award from the Engineering Community of the Special Libraries Associations and the Homer I. Bernhardt Distinguished service award from the Engineering Libraries Division of the American Society for Engineering Education.
Personal interests
Jay has a lifelong passion for trains and is a member of the Indian Railways Fan Club. He loves to read and write poetry, including a Gujarati language blog, bansinaad, which includes articles and poems. In his spare time, Jay enjoys researching new initiatives that highlight U.S./India/global collaborations in areas such as engineering education and libraries.
