Sara Tompson has been an engineering and/or physical sciences librarian her whole career, in both academic and corporate organizations. She is now semi-retired, but still doing research for DVI Aviation, as well as doing ground instruction for people studying to be instrument-rated private pilots (she is one herself). Tompson was inducted as an SLA Fellow in 2017. She has held numerous leadership positions in SLA; most recently she was the 2021 President of the Engineering Community. She lives in Lawrence, KS with her husband Kevin and her cat Hilda and ever-expanding garden plots.
