Subscription bibliographic databases and indexes provide some access to research materials for geosciences, and atmospheric and oceanic sciences ; however, these sources do not provide comprehensive coverage of relevant publications needed by researchers in the sciences, social sciences and the humanities. This presentation will provide librarians with freely available tools for finding bibliographic information and online publications available from international governments and societies that specialize in Earth’s natural resources and natural hazards.
Learning Objectives:
Understand Earth's processes for the water cycle, mineral cycle, and natural hazards of continents and oceans.
Participants will learn how to use the components of the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere of Earth's ecosystem in library catalogs and databases.
Evaluate data and publications for scientists and non-scientists at all educational levels and experiences, such as K-12, undergraduate, graduate, post-docs, and continuing education.
Identify and access varying types of data sources for geosciences, atmospheric and oceanic sciences for research consultations and reference inquiries.
