Founded in 1968, IFIS is a not-for-profit publisher and educational charity committed to supporting those studying and working in the sciences of food and health by making it easier to access industry-specific research that can be trusted; preserving integrity and accuracy in the fields of food and beverages; and furthering learning and development across the world.
IFIS' research tools include:
- FSTA - an interdisciplinary database of scientific and technological information relating to food, beverages and nutrition. FSTA is used in universities, food companies and government bodies all over the world, including 8 of the top 10 universities for food science (Shanghai ranking, 2021) and 7 of the top 10 food companies. In 2022, FSTA with Full Text was launched exclusively on EBSCO.
- IFIS Collections - 12+ curated collections based on FSTA, focused around specific industry sectors and topics, including Plant Foods, Food Safety, and a custom collection option. IFIS and The Nutrition Society jointly launched a Nutritional Science collection in 2022.
IFIS develop and deliver educational resources in research and publishing skills, including:
- Best Practice Guide to Effective Literature Searching
- Guide to Publishing in Journals
- IFIS will publish a Guide to Systematic Reviews in Food Science (coming summer 2022)
