Senior Automation Engineer
EMD Serono Research and Development Institute, Inc., Massachusetts, United States
Jesse Mulcahy is currently working within the Bioassay Automation and Compound Logistics Department supporting Discovery and Development Technologies unit at EMD Serono. He has spent the last three years at EMD Serono, leading the design, implementation, and support of a variety of innovative automation projects across the Billerica campus. More specifically, he implemented automated high throughput solutions for small and large molecule research, the centralization of compound distribution and built an automated high throughput flow cytometry platform for antibody discovery. Though Jesse’s original responsibilities were solely supporting the Discovery Pharmacology departments automation needs, because of his successes his role has been expanded to leading an automation team dedicated to supporting the entire site.
In past roles, Jesse has implemented GxP and non-GxP automated solutions to support small and large molecule bioanalysis, cell-based assays, diagnostic testing and manufacturing QC. He has validated automated solutions in the United States and Europe according to the FDA’s 21 CFR Part 11 and the European Union ’s Annex 11 standards. Because collaboration is key to delivering impactful solutions, he prides himself on working closely with scientists to design and implement automation projects that meet their requirements for today and tomorrow.
